"Ma Fille Catherine" is a song I wrote as a tribute to my daughter Catherine. Back when I was 20 years old, I was engaged to a woman named Rebecca. We had gotten pregnant and were hoping for a little girl who we were going to name Catherine. Unfortunately, a few weeks into the pregnancy, she miscarried. We were both devastated, and it partly contributed to our breakup some months later.

As someone who is unable to have kids now, I still think about Catherine. When I'm feeling troubled, a lot of times I talk to her. She would have been 24 this year.

The main version here is narrowed down from it's nearly 11 minute album length. I've also included a piano demo from Brian of "(The Sun Goes Down In) The Mourning," which will be featured in a more formal release on the upcoming album "Lapse of Luxury." There's also an additional, more electronic dance mix of the title track included.
