I had a problem. I loved creating 69 Susans music, but also had this pop music thing I was trying to do. The problem was that I gave myself a deadline to make the pop music, and it backfired to the point where I became mentally constipated. I realized that I no longer had the passion to make pop music anymore.

My music as 69 Susans is... complicated, at best. I can't explain WHY I do what I do here. In one way, it drives me insane that I don't know why, while in another way it's incredibly freeing because there is no expectation of what type of music you'll get from me here. I don't have to worry about striking a wrong chord or if my voice is up to the task of singing the stuff I write.

As a result of this, I've realized that 69 Susans is - ironically - more of me than the pop music I was releasing under my actual name is!

A piece of advice to any creative folks: follow your heart. If it feels wrong, scrap it and start over or set it to the side and come back to it later. Do the things that you love, especially if the creativity for it comes to you naturally. I've made that mistake before.

Time to be that mad audio scientist again!
