about

This EP is based on dialogue from the public-domain film "Night of the Living Dead." I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could experiment and create something interesting with it, and I feel I was successful in doing so.

The first three tracks are inspired by a lot of the 90's electronic music I grew up listening to. "Barbra and Johnny" has a bit of an Orbital sound. "They're Coming To Get You, Barbra" was inspired by the dearth of drum and bass I listened to. "Beekman's Diner" utilizes multiple sound effects from the movie and was inspired by icy-sounding trip-hop. The last two tracks are more sonic pastiches in that they have less of a solid beat as the previous three tracks. But they have an interesting sound to them that I dig.

The radio transmissions in the film have always intrigued me. I've always wondered how we would react if a zombie attack really happened. Judging from how some Americans are misbehaving with the stay-at-home / shelter-in-place orders from COVID-19 at the moment I'm releasing this, probably not well. For every Ben there would be some idiot foolish enough to try to kill all of the zombies... which never ends well for those folks.

In any case, I hope you are doing well and thriving given the circumstances and restrictions we find ourselves dealing with now. Be safe!
